Report: Naito undergoing treatment following NJPW departure

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Tetsuya Naito stated that he would be undergoing surgery for his left eye on May 7, as well as starting stem cell treatment on his right knee.

The medical care comes after the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion’s final match with New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestling Dontaku on May 4.

Naito talked about the double vision he had sustained in his right eye for many years, with several surgeries to fix it, with the hopes that this next surgery will resolve the issues rising in his left ey.

Despite some speculation on his plans following a long and storied career in Japan, Naito said he has nothing planned out, instead choosing to maintain his body before moving onto the next stage of his career.

Naito’s run with NJPW saw him compete all around the world, including stops in TNA and AEW as a representative for the promotion.
