AEW to pay tribute to Steve “Mongo” McMichael on 5/17 Collision Beach Break

It was announced during Thursday night’s special live AEW Collision, that the promotion will pay tribute NFL Hall of Famer Steve “Mongo” McMichael on next Saturday’s taped Collision Beach Break episode. His family and WWE Hall of Famer “Nature Boy” Ric Flair will also be part of the tribute.

Tony Schiavone noted on commentary the tribute is being done on Collision on TNT, as McMichael made his debut with professional wrestling on the cable network with the big debut of WCW Monday Nitro. He would later become part of the Four Horsemen.

In football, McMichael won a Super Bowl while playing for the 1985-1986 Chicago Bears. He still holds the records for the second most sacks in Bears history, with 92.5.

McMichael passed away back on April 23 at the age of 67 after losing his battle with ALS.
