During an interview with TMZ Sports, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW’s Director of Business Development, Jeff Jarrett said he has an offer for NFL star Travis Kelce when his football career is over, which is a spot in AEW.
Jarrett further told TMZ Sports, bringing Kelce in would not be all about the publicity, as the WCW World Champion truly believes Kelce has what it takes to entertain the wrestling fans. Jarrett then went on to say, not only would he welcome Kelce in AEW, but also has a guitar shot for him.
“I got a guitar shot for Travis. But no, I’d welcome him in an AEW ring. I think he could make a lot of noise and it goes without saying, him and his brother, showmen at heart...I wish Travis nothing but success this upcoming year, but there’s going to come a time when his football career is over, so the door will be open at AEW.”
As far as getting the word out to Kelce, well, Jarrett has a connection with Kelce’s finance, Grammy award-winner, singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift.
When Swift was a teenager in Hendersonville, Tennessee, she babysat Jarrett’s daughters, during the time Jarrett’s first wife Jill was battling breast cancer. Jarrett says he still keeps in contact with Taylor’s father.
Jarrett told TMZ Sports that during Christmas 2006, Swift performed an impromptu three-hour concert in their home, in addition to taking the time to bake with his girls, at time when they needed it, as the his daughter’s mother would pass away five months later.
“It was Christmas of 2006. My first wife was really ill with breast cancer. She passed away about five months after this, so she was really ill and a friend of Taylor said, ‘Hey, why don’t you drop by?’ Obviously, like every little girl in America, my daughters were big Taylor fans. Her songs had just kind of broke, but she was a hometown girl...I think in a lot of ways, and I’ll get emotional saying this, she kind of bonded with the family, specifically with the girls.”
Jarrett clarified that Swift was not the family’s actual babysitter and that she never took money for spending time with his girls.
“I’d like to say it, but I don’t believe she’s ever been on the Jeff Jarrett payroll, so to speak.”
One of Jarrett’s daughters played a younger version of Swift in one of Swift’s music videos. The family made the trip from Tennessee to Maine for the video shoot. Swift made the trip memorable for Jarrett’s girls, by taking them all shopping at Toys R Us.
