The city of Boston will not be the place for John Cena’s retirement match.
As first reported by Wrestlevotes and then F4WOnline, Cena will have his retirement match on Saturday Night’s Main Event, December 13 in Washington, DC at the Capital One Arena.
In addition, the Boston Herald is reporting Cena’s final appearance in Boston will be during the November 10 episode of Raw at TD Garden. The New York Post is reporting Cena’s final appearance at Madison Square Garden will come the following week on the November 17 episode of Raw.
According to Jon Alba at The Takedown on SI, sources claimed Boston pushed hard to be the host city for Cena’s retirement match, but that WWE asked the city to cover of cost of hosting the event, which is something that has not been asked by WWE for past events.
