Report: WWE had ‘significant say’ in finish to match at TNA Bound For Glory

According to an ‘exclusive’ report from The Takedown on SI, WWE “had a significant say in the booking direction” in the finish for the X-Division Championship Match between Leon Slater and NXT’s Je’Von Evans at Sunday night’s TNA Bound For Glory PPV.

The match saw Slater defending the X-Division Title against Evans that ended in a 20 minute time-limit draw. This then brought out TNA’s Director of Authority Santino Marella who added an additional 5 more minutes.

During the overrun, the lights went out and NXT’s DarkState came out, attacking both men. This brought on loud boos and then “f— these guys chants from the record setting crowd of 7,794 fans at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. Furthermore, the finish was not popular with the internet wrestling community either.

The match ended up being declared a no-contest.

The Takedown on SI added that WWE and TNA currently collaborate on booking decisions and talent usage as part of their working partnership and that WWE especially has “a lot of pull” when its talents are utilized on TNA programming.
