Vince McMahon gets special probation in reckless driving case

According to a new report from the New Haven Register, a judge on Thursday granted an application from Vince McMahon for a pretrial probationary program in his reckless driving case.

The founder and former CEO of WWE appeared briefly at state Superior Court in Stamford, Connecticut before Judge Gary White along with his attorney, Mark Sherman, almost two months after submitting his application for the accelerated rehabilitation program which was in connection with the motor vehicle accidents that took place on the Merritt Parkway back on July 24. It was noted that McMahon did not speak it court.

The judge ruled that McMahon must attend the program for one year on the condition that he makes a $1,000 charitable contribution and only drive if properly licensed and insured. Charges of reckless driving and following too closely will be dismissed on October 15, 2026, but only if McMahon has no further incidents.

An accident report per the Connecticut State Police notes the crash happened at 9:22am local time. Authorities said McMahon was driving his 2024 Bentley Continental in the right lane of the parkway, also known as Route 15, north near Exit 41 in Westport when he rear-ended a BMW and then hit the median. A driver in a Ford Fusion on the south side of the highway hit debris that had been projected over the center median, resulting in the driver not being able to avoid the debris, causing them to crash their vehicle into the guardrail on the northbound side of the highway.

There were no injuries as a result of the accident and neither of the other drivers appeared in court or made any objections to McMahon’s application for the program. Sherman stated he sent apology notes on behalf of his client to the other drivers.

Also per the report, Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Eileen Ornousky said McMahon was driving in excess of 90 mph at the time of the accident, but did not object to the program since McMahon was fully covered by insurance.
