According to Dave Meltzer, in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been discussions about John Cena possibly winning the Intercontinental Championship next month and then defending as part of his retirement match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
Metlzer also notes as of now, the plans are for Cena to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Title at Survivor Series: WarGames, which takes place at Petco Park in San Diego, California on November 29. Meltzer added WWE has planned Gunther to be Cena’s final opponent.
Cena has never held the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
