During an appearance on El Ring (all spoken in Spanish), Andrade addressed the speculation on if his divorce from Charlotte Flair led to his departure from WWE.
“When I returned to WWE, they treated me well. I have nothing bad to say. Triple H always treated me well. Everyone received me well. And then she got injured. After that we started having some problems, and then the divorce came. A lot of people ask whether she had anything to do with me leaving WWE. It had nothing to do with that, nothing at all. Not that she talked to the company or said ‘fire him’ or anything like that. I respect her. She was an incredible woman. She was a great wife. I wish her the best. I admit it, as a person and as a man, I was the one who failed in the relationship. I can’t speak badly about her. She’s an incredible woman and I wish her the best.”

Andrade and Flair got engaged on January 1, 2020 and were married on May 27, 2022. Flair filed for divorce in June 2024, with the divorce being finalized in October of that same year. This was Flair’s third marriage and the first for Andrade.
Andrade El Idolo made his surprise return to AEW during the 6th Anniversary episode of AEW back on October 1, attacking Kenny Omega and aligning himself with the Don Callis Family. He then had not been appeared on AEW TV after that. On October 16, there were several reports noting WWE sent a cease-and-desist letter to AEW, claiming Andrade had violated his no-compete clause, which now may keep him out of the ring for one full year. His release from WWE was due to several wellness policy violations on top of disciplinary issues. Andrade revealed last month he had never signed a contract with AEW.
