Former champion selling his first original guaranteed WWF contract

Former WWF/E Champion Marc Mero took to social media advertise that he selling his first original WWF guaranteed contract.

Mero notes that as part of the contract, he a $50,000 signing bonus from the WWF, which would be worth approximately $105,000 today. He went on to say that what this even more special is that he was the first wrestler to receive a guaranteed contract, on top of a signing bonus of the size he was given, something unheard of at the time. He further states that the document is signed by Linda McMahon, adding to its historical significance.

Prior to the WWF/E, Mero wrestled as Johnny B. Badd in WCW from 1993 to 1996 and held the promotion’s television championship. After leaving WCW, he debuted in the WWF/E at as at WrestleMania XII, on March 31, 1996, where he rescued his then real-life wife, Rena “Sable” Mero from Triple H.

Mero retired from in-ring competition in 2006 and is currently operating the Marc Mero Body Slam Training Institute in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Mero also contributes much of his time to the nonprofit organization he founded in 2007, Champion of Choices, speaking at schools and churches around the United States.

On December 25, 2025, the 65-year old Mero married his fiancée, Malissa, in a private, intimate ceremony. This is Mero’s third marriage.
