WWE: Then. Now. Forever. Together.
We get a video package looking back at last week’s Undisputed WWE Championship match, and Cody Rhodes taking back the title after interference from Jacob Fatu.
We cut to Superstar Arrivals before Nick Aldis is called out by Drew McIntyre, who heads to ringside to run the Smackdown GM down. Nick says that he understands why Drew keeps complaining about not getting fair shot before, because the moment he had a fair shot to defend it he ended up losing the title. Drew says this is BS before demanding that Aldis fix the situation…and this brings out Jacob Fatu.
Fatu says there’s nothing to fix, that if it wasn’t for him Drew wouldn’t be champion in the first place. He fixed the situation to make sure Drew wasn’t champion last week, before asking Drew what he’s gonna do about it. Drew is none too pleased by all this, saying he’s done with Jacob and with everyone else…before telling Nick Aldis that he quits!
He leaves the ring and goes through the crowd as commentary talk about what this means after last week’s title match, and then they run through some of the lineup for the night with a look at Nia Jax and Lash Legend before we cut backstage.
MFT and Solo Sikoa talk about still holding onto the lantern before walking away. Tama Tonga is met with the arrival of Shinsuke Nakamura, who wants to know when Tama will be his own man…but Solo steps in telling Nakamura to leave his family alone.
We cut back to ringside for our opening contest, a non-title match that sees Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga take on Uncle Howdy and Erick Rowan up next!
-Commercial Break-
We cut backstage with Jacob Fatu upset about Drew quitting before he can take a whoopin…with Trick Williams saying he’s the only one doing the whoopin around here. Fatu isn’t having any of it, telling Trick and Aldis off before walking away. Trick tells the GM to do his job and this leads to Nick doing his job…as he books Trick taking on Jacob Fatu later tonight! He tells Williams to get ready as we get back to ringside.
Wyatt Sicks await the arrival of their opponents as MFT head to the ring. We get a look back at Tag Team Turmoil last week and the brawl between MFT and the Wyatt Sicks, before we get this match underway!
Non-Title Match: Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga vs. Uncle Howdy and Erick Rowan
We start things off with Erick and the taller Tonga, with each man looking to overpower the other. Cheap shot by Talla leads to a shoulder tackle bringing Rowan to the mat. Talla brings Erick back to his feet, but this costs him as Rowan starts fighting back before making the tag to Howdy. Talla brings the Uncle to the corner before tagging in Solo. The two trade tags to keep control of the match heading into picture-in-picture.
Picture-in-Picture: MFT still firmly in control throughout the break, working over Uncle Howdy with big strikes and nerve holds until Sikoa lands a spinning Solo Slam. Tag made to Talla as we come back from break.
Talla drives Uncle Howdy down hard for a two count, tagging Solo back in. Sikoa mocks Howdy as he sets up for a Sister Abigail, only to be dropped with a back body drop…and Rowan gets the tag! Talla tags in as well but is sent to the corner by Erick, who then clears off the apron before dodging Tonga for a running cross body. He drops Talla down but only gets a two count. Talla is hoisted upon Erick’s shoulders but Solo gets a blind tag to take Rowan down by surprise.
Rowan counters a splash with the knees up, tagging in Howdy who goes for a Sister Abigail before Talla goes in for the save. He and Rowan take their fight to the outside, laying each other out as the rest of the Sicks and MFT have a brawl on the outside. Solo gets involved with that before going back in the ring for a Samoan Spike…but Nikki Cross distracts him as she takes back the lantern, and this allows Howdy to land Sister Abigail for the win!
Winners via pinfall: The Wyatt Sicks
The celebration is short lived as Tama Tonga blindsides Uncle Howdy to steal back the lantern, and MFT regroups on the ramp as we cut backstage.
Damian Priest and R-Truth talk about what just went down (with Truth confusing MFT with Judgment Day) before they’re interrupted by Los Garza about Tag Team Turmoil last week. Even though Truth and Priest are number one contenders, they’re willing to have a match against the Garzas.
We head back to ringside as Jade Cargill makes her entrance, a non-title match as she faces Michin up next!
-Commercial Break-
We come back to get two-thirds of a promo backstage from Kiana James and Giulia, ahead of James facing Tiffany Stratton later tonight. No seriously, I didn’t even know who they were talking about until “Tiffy Time” was mentioned as they say it’s going to expire tonight.
We take a look back at the issues between Michin and Cargill before heading back to the ring to get this match underway!
Non-Title Match: WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill vs. Michin
Michin blindsides the champ before the bell, eventually sending Jade to the outside…but Cargill manages to fight back, landing some hard strikes on Michin. She takes Michin to the corner for some boots to the midsection, driving a boot into the throat before the ref intervenes. Jade continues the attack, with Michin barely starting to fight back before Jade takes her to the mat. They trade strikes until Jade sends Michin to the ropes, with Michin sending her to the outside for a running kick from the apron.
Michin goes for an attack off the ring steps but is dropped hard to the floor, the champ firmly in control now as we go to break.
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Cargill continues to wear Michin down but a Jaded attempt is countered as Michin starts to fight back. She dodges a clothesline to land a Pele kick of sorts, and a Sliced Bread followed by Eat Defeat forces Jade to scramble to the outside for safety.
Michin looks for a senton on the outside, but Jade rolls out of the way before sending Michin onto the barricade with a crucifix bomb. She brings Michin back into the ring, licking her face before landing a chokeslam…followed by Jaded for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Jade Cargill
Replays of the finish as Jade celebrates the win. Interview with the champ post-match goes awry when Jade grabs the mic, saying what happened to Michin is what happens when these women believe in their own hype. The ladies backstage go silent when she’s around, but for some reason the world says she is supposed to be afraid of one woman.
She isn’t, saying she is, uh, she…and promises to beat Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania, showing why she’s always on top. She drops the mic, but Rhea Ripley makes her way out as she looks to have some more words with the champ. She makes a beeline for the ring, entering to stare down Cargill…who slides out of the ring to boos.
Ripley grabs the mic, saying Jade has been running her mouth but now running away from a fight. She says Jade isn’t the epitome of female empowerment, before promising that the champ will be hers come WrestleMania (or something along those lines, I gotta be careful what I write out sometimes lol). Jade heads to the back as Rhea stares her down.
Backstage, Cody Rhodes talks to Nick Aldis who tells the champ to focus on the contract for the signing tonight. Aldis walks off as Sami steps in, saying he just came over to say congrats and he’s rooting for Rhodes at Mania. Cody doesn’t want to make it a thing either, but he recalls Sami saying this to Randy as well. Cody wants to get to the root of this, asking if Zayn wants a title shot…but Sami says he talked to Randy because he looks up to Randy.
He doesn’t look up to Cody, and you wanna know why? Because they’re friends, and friends are supposed to be equals. Cody may be walking into WrestleMania as the champ again, but in his mind they’re equals, so don’t talk down to him. Cody says he isn’t talking down to him, addressing Sami’s point about looking up to him before saying he can just look at this…pointing to the Undisputed WWE Championship before walking off.
Sami is mad, taking it out on some equipment when Aleister Black and Zelina Vega step in. Black talks about maybe the title isn’t for Sami, trying to get into the head of Zayn until Sami says he needs to stay far, far away from him. He walks off, and we get some hype for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship up next!
-Commercial Break-
WWE asks Did You Know?: Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre last week to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion and will head to WrestleMania! (You’re probably saying “yes, because I actually watched the show” and good on you if you did)
Backstage, Michin and B-Fab are met by Rhea Ripley who checks on Michin as she ices up her shoulder. They address Jade Cargill as we head back to ringside for our next match.
Out first are the challengers as Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair head to the ring. Before we can get much further, however, the Bella Twins make an entrance to a decent pop from the Phoenix crowd. Nikki grabs a mic to hype up the crowd some more, before telling Bliss and Flair they’re not here to wish them luck but announce that they have the next shot at whoever are champions after tonight.
They leave the ring to go sit at commentary as we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
We head back to ringside as the champions make their way out, ready to defend as we get ring introductions for both teams before this match gets underway!
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) defend against Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair
The champions blindside Bliss and Flair, taking the fight to them early on. Flair and Bliss start to fight back, sending Jax and Legend out before Bliss goes for a cannonball off the apron…but Jax catches her, dropping the challenger to the floor. She takes a dive from Flair, who gets a kick to the face by Legend. The champs have some words with the Bellas as we go to picture-in-picture.
Picture-in-Picture: Legend and Bliss officially start the match off as the first two in the ring, with the champ easily taking Bliss to the mat for a nearfall. She continues the attack as she tags in Jax, who hangs up Alexa on the rope before mouthing off with the ref. This gives Bliss an opening to fight back, but she is knocked down by Nia who clears Charlotte fof the apron before bringing Alexa to her corner. Tag made to Legend as they double-team Bliss, and Legend gets a nearfall before Bliss fights back to bring us out of break.
Alexa goes for a tag to Flair but is pulled away by Legend, only to dodge a clothesline to get the tag to Charlotte! Flair sends Jax off the apron before laying in some chops on Lash, followed by a cartwheel clothesline. Legend gets tagged out as Jax drops Flair down hard, but Charlotte dodges Annihilator in the corner before going for a moonsault. That connects, and she gets a two count before Lash breaks it up…only to take a DDT by Bliss!
Jax and Flair take their fight outside until Nia nearly collides with the Bellas, with Nikki taking a thrust kick by Charlotte before Jax pulls Brie in front of her to take a shot from Flair. The competitors come back to the ring as Bliss gets the tag…and the Bellas slide into the ring, getting involved and forcing this match to end abruptly!
Match ends in a No Contest (I think? I’ll get official word shortly)
The Bellas go after the champs and the challengers, until Jax and Legend beat down Nikki and Brie setting up for a big leg drop on Nikki. They celebrate as we head backstage.
Jelly Roll chats it up with R-Truth before Damian Priest steps in, allowing Truth to introduce “Sushi Roll” before the number one contenders walk off. Roll then meets up with Randy Orton, congratulating him on going for world title number fifteen at WrestleMania. Orton hypes up Jelly for this three Grammy wins before addressing his appearance on MizTV, and SmackDown rolls on.
Back at ringside, Damian Priest and R-Truth make their entrance as they get ready to face Los Garza, and that match is up next!
-Commercial Break-
Backstage, The Bellas confront Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair before talking about the fact they have the next shot at the tag titles. With that, SmackDown rolls on.
We return to ringside, where Los Garza have arrived to get this match underway!
Damian Priest & R-Truth vs. Los Garza
Angel and Truth start things off, with Angel laying into Truth before tagging in Berto for a double-team. Berto continues the attack until Truth fights back with a headscissors sending Berto to the corner…where Truth lands a hip attack to keep up the pace!
Truth takes a shot from Berto before dodging another, but Angel pulls the ropes apart to send him to the outside before he and Berto land a pair of moonsaults from the top onto their opponents before we go to break.
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Berto continues to wear down Truth before tagging in Angel, with Los Garza clearing off Priest before double-teaming Truth to great effect. Angel gets a nearfall before mocking Truth with a “you can’t see me” before a suplex…only for Truth to counter into a jawbreaker! He sends Angel to the outside after a tag to Berto is made, before making the tag to Priest who goes to work on both of Los Garza. He sends Angel out before going after Berto, landing a big boot for a two count before Angel breaks it up.
He returns to the apron as Priest sets Berto up for a Razor’s Edge, but Angel helps Berto out of it before double-teaming him. Tag to Angel who continues the attack as Berto comes in as well…but Priest fights back, eventually dropping Berto with the Razor’s Edge. Truth is back up on the apron and the crowd is chanting his name, leading to Priest making the tag as they hoist Los Garza up for an Attitude Adjustment from Truth and South of Heaven from Priest, getting them the win in the process!
Winners via pinfall: Damian Priest & R-Truth
They celebrate as we cut backstage.
Alex Shelley helps Candice LeRae with Johnny Gargano before being confronted by Chris Sabin, who is focused on handling MCMG business as he gets the pair a match with Fraxiom to get back into the title hunt.
Elsewhere, The Miz is met by Danhausen who offers his best-selling t-shirt to his new “mentor,” with Miz surprised that he even has a shirt so soon. Danhausen talks about getting his own show with the biggest celebrity guests, and maybe it’ll replace MizTV…but Miz is having none of it, shouting at Danhausen. Danhausen brings back the “Really?” gimmick on Miz, who just gets more riled up before we get the moment Miz could dread later, as Danhausen lets his “mentor” know that he…is…cursed!
Miz says Really?…but Danhausen has disappeared! Up next, MizTV will have special guest Jelly Rollhausen…I mean, Jelly Roll.
-Commercial Break-
We head to the ring for…
MizTV with Special Guest: Jelly Roll
Miz starts to introduce the show but is cut off as his mic stops working for a moment. He finally gets through the spiel before welcoming his guest, Jelly Roll! Jelly makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd as he enters the ring, and Miz says hello before asking what brings him to MizTV. Jelly talks about this being the Road to WrestleMania and how he didn’t wanna miss out on seeing his boys, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
This gives Miz an opportunity to present his mentoring services to Jelly Roll, but Roll lets him down gently…well, mostly gently, as he points out every person he’s tried to help he ends up stabbing in the back. This riles up Miz, who says he helped Jelly up at SummerSlam and claims he helped Jelly Roll lose weight.
The musician takes umbrage with this, saying he ran up and down them miles to lose 250 pounds. Miz says he liked Jelly better when he was fat, but Roll says skinny or fat he’ll whip Miz’s (butt). Curiously, this brings out Kit Wilson (KIT WIL-SON), who says that Miz can’t help Jelly Roll. Roll says he likes Kit Wilson, but Kit takes issue with it as he says Jelly likes to mock him. He then calls Roll fat phobic for perpetuating an unhealthy standard, because Jelly Roll is…TOXIC! This leads to a staredown between Wilson and Roll, before Miz shoves him away to deal with Kit…and Jelly ends up laying out The Miz with a right hand!
Kit leaves the ring as Jelly shouts at him from the ring, and SmackDown rolls on.
Backstage, Carmelo Hayes confronts Ilja Dragunov about not going after the United States Championship. This leads to Dragunov saying he can’t fight Melo while he’s still fighting himself, and he walks off.
Elsewhere, Tiffany Stratton starts to address Giulia and Kiana James before Chelsea Green rolls in to interrupt. Tiffy pushes her away before letting us know that the United States Title will soon be hers, because guess what time it is?
“It’s Tiffy Time!”
We head to ringside as Tiffany Stratton makes her entrance. She faces Kiana James, and that match is coming up next!
-Commercial Break-
We head backstage where Kit Wilson tells Miz he’s gonna talk to Nick Aldis to address Jelly Roll did moments ago. Wilson walks off, and we see Danhausen asking if “Jimmy Jam” knocked any of his teeth out as he could use some for his jar. Miz is riled up by this, as Danhausen starts to offer him the one way he can reverse the curse…but as Miz goes to tell him there IS no curse, Danhausen has once again disappeared.
We get a look at some celebs in the crowd, including Vanessa Hudgens holding up a special WrestleMania 42 replica belt (upside down) and UFC Hall of Famer Mark Kerr (looking nothing like Dwayne Johnson, how about that) before we head back to the ring for the upcoming match. Kiana James is accompanied by Giulia as she heads to the ring to get this match underway!
Tiffany Stratton vs. Kiana James
Tiffy takes the fight to James early on, sending her to the ropes…but Kiana dodges a hip attack, and a distraction from Giulia allows her to send Tiffy to the outside with a Dealbreaker. She then sends Stratton into the barricade as we go to break.
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, we see Chelsea Green being rolled toward the ring by Alba Fyre as Tiffy regains control of the match. James turns things around for a Falcon Arrow but it’s only good for two. Stratton fights back, heading to the corner before Giulia pulls James out of the ring. Stratton goes after her, but is nearly blindsided by Chelsea Green before Giulia gets involved. James brings Stratton back into the ring and Giulia holds her agains the ropes, only to take a boot to the face by James!
This allows Tiffy to hit a rolling senton followed by the PME for the win.
Winner via pinfall: Tiffany Stratton
Next week on SmackDown:
- WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Irresistible Forces defend against The Bellas
- Kit Wilson calls out Jelly Roll
Backstage, Trick Williams says he’s gonna take out Jacob Fatu tonight. Let’s talk about it…or maybe not, as Sami Zayn steps in to run him down over recent events. Trick says Zayn is lucky he has a match tonight, but Sami says he’s easy to find.
With that, we head back to ringside for our next (and possibly final?) match as Jacob Fatu makes his way out. He faces Trick Williams up next!
-Commercial Break-
Commentary hypes up AAA Rey de Reyes tomorrow, before we head back to ringside as Trick Williams makes his entrance to get this presumed main event underway!
Trick Williams vs. Jacob Fatu
The two men circle the mat before locking up, with the fight quickly being brought to the corner where Jacob lands some hard shots to knock Williams back…only for Trick to lay it in just as thick, followed by some chops in the corner. Fatu turns it around to send Williams across the ring, but Trick finds out that slamming Jacob’s head into the turnbuckle has little effect…and this allows Fatu to send Williams back to the corner for some punches!
Williams fights back to send Jacob to the mat, but as he poses to the crowd we see Fatu already back up. He takes Trick to the ropes and then sends him out of the ring as we go to picture-in-picture.
Picture-in-Picture: Jacob continues the attack until Trick starts to fend him off, but it doesn’t take long for Fatu to regain control as he sends Trick into the barricade. He rolls back into the ring to break the ref’s count, but this gives Williams an opening as he sends Jacob back for some right hands in the ring. He cinches in a chinlock that would make Davey Boy Smith proud as we come back from break…
…just in time for Fatu to finally break free, sending Trick into the corner! He looks for a hip attack, but Williams dodges it to pick up some steam. He sends Fatu to the mat before looking for a Trick Kick, but Fatu counters with an uppercut…only for Trick to drop him with a flapjack! Uranage gets Trick a two count as Jacob kicks out.
Jacob catches Williams by surprise with a popup Samoan drop for a nearfall of his own, but Williams rolls out of the ring to avoid whatever Fatu had in mind after that. Jacob follows him out of the ring, but Trick gets back in and distracts the ref as Drew McIntyre blindsides Fatu! He lays Jacob out before sending him back into the ring, where Williams lands not one but two Trick Shots for the win.
Winner via pinfall: Trick Williams
Trick takes his celebration to the outside as Drew stands over Fatu in the ring, before sending him to the corner for a massive Claymore Kick!
We cut away from this as up next is the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton for their Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania!
-Commercial Break-
Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes Contract Signing for the Undisputed WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania 42
Nick Aldis is in the ring with the presumably cursed mic from earlier tonight, but now we can hear him better as he addresses Drew McIntyre briefly before turning his attention to the contract signing here tonight. He introduces Randy Orton first, who gets a big pop from the crowd on his way to the ring.
The fans sing along to Randy’s theme as he enters the ring, and Aldis introduces the champ next as Cody Rhodes makes his entrance to a slightly more muted reaction. Still plenty of singing along and cheering though, as Cody makes his way to the ring.
