The Young Bucks recall talks with WWE on New Day feud

In a recent edition of Being The Elite, the Young Bucks reviewed footage with Kenny Omega and The New Day leading up to a Street Fighter V video game showdown during the E3 expo in 2018.

Matt Jackson revealed that there were talks with Triple H for a match with the WWE faction around that time:

We truly were trying to get a New Day, Young Bucks, Kenny match to happen. An Elite vs. New Day match actively. They (WWE) said they were trying on their side. We were definitely talking to our bosses. Even to the point in 2018 when we got on the phone with Triple H and we talked to him and said, ‘Hey, we would really like to do this match.’ I don’t know if he was necessarily interested in just doing that match.

I think he was more interested in pursuing us to work for him, but we talked to him about it. We were serious about doing the match and we thought we’d probably be able to do it, and unfortunately we never did.

The showdown at E3 took place months before All In, a largely independent wrestling event that preceded the formation of All Elite Wrestling the following January and saw the Bucks sign as EVPs alongside Omega and Cody Rhodes.

The conversation around the New Day comes after Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods recently departed WWE following reports they were offered pay cuts by the company.
