More details on the injury to AEW Champion

According to a new report from Fightful Select, there a additional details on the injury that AEW World Champion MJF sustained during his title defense against Rush during this past Wednesday’s Dynamite.

AEW announced that MJF hyperextended his knee during the match, which caused him to pull out of his indie appearance with Beyond Wrestling. Per a report by the Undisputed on Thursday, it was announced that Andrade would be be the replacement for MJF against Bobby Orlando at the promotion’s event, which took place on June 5 in Cranston, Rhode Island.

It had initially been believed the injury took place during the piledriver on the barricade spot. Fightful notes this was not the case and that the injury happened during Rush’s knee spot in the corner. Fightful added this was seen as a “freak accident,” with no heat reportedly to be on Rush.

It added that MJF is expected to continue appearing on AEW television and will continue to monitor the injury.
