Memphis City Council approves to rename street after WWE Hall of Famer

The Commercial Appeal reports that a quarter mile of road near Treadwell Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee will be renamed after WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler.

During its Tuesday, June 9 meeting, the Memphis City Council, with all members present passed a resolution to rename Homer Street between Given and Rhea avenues. A date for the renaming of the street was not announced at the time the resolution was passed.

The 76-year old Lawler began his pro wrestling career in Memphis in the 1970s.
