William Regal says goodbye to the Blackpool Combat Club

It appears that William Regal’s time in AEW has come to an end. Regal posted his goodbye to the Blackpool Combat Club to Twitter, with a link to the lyric video for the song “Far Far Away” by Slade. Both of which you can check out at the bottom of this report.

During this week’s Dynamite, after Regal was taken out in an ambulance on November 30 episode, Dynamite, AEW aired a pre-taped interview segments with Regal explaining the reason that he turned on Jon Moxley and costed him World title at Full Gear was teach him to have eyes in the back of his head, and for the entire Blackpool Combat Club to always watch their back. As part of the storyline to write Regal off AEW television completely, is that he is remains in the hospital with Bryan Danielson at his side.

It appears that AEW could be heading in the direction with Bryan Danielson getting revenge on new AEW World Champion MJF, while going after the Title.

During Wednesday’s ROH Final Battle media call, Tony Khan confirmed that he agreed to not pick up Regal’s contract extension option at at the request of Regal, which will allow him to return to WWE. However, Regal will not be able to appear back on WWE programming until sometime in early 2023. Regal expressed that he wanted to go back to coach his son who is signed to NXT under the name of Charlie Dempsey and be with friends that he made during his initial 22-year run in the company.

Despite Regal saying he is Blackpool Combat Club until the day he dies, the future of the group is not clear. If Claudio Castagnoli fails to win the ROH World Title from Chris Jericho at this Saturday’s Final Battle PPV, he will be forced to Join the Jericho Appreciation Society.
