AEW star undergoes surgery, gets a shout out from WWE’s Kevin Owens in Digital Exclusive

Adam Cole has undergone his needed ankle surgery.

In a WWE Digital Exclusive from Friday night, Kevin Owens who was drafted to SmackDown in exchange for Jey Uso going to Raw, gave a shout out to his friend Adam for well wishes. Owens said that he (Adam), had a very serious surgery on Friday and is now recovering.

Cole said earlier this month that he required two surgeries, eight screws, and a plate to fix his ankle injury. AEW has kept him on television in vignettes with Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Roderick Strong with the storyline of him delaying his surgery to help out Strong.

Cole suffered his injury during the September 20 Grand Slam episode of AEW Dynamite after he jumped off the entrance ramp and landing awkwardly on his ankle. He came at ringside to assist MJF retaining the World Championship over Samoa Joe. Cole could be seen limping at ringside during the match.

Back on the September 27 episode of Dynamite, Cole was ready to relinquish the ROH World Tag Team Titles. However, MJF came out and said he would defend the titles in a handicap match against The Righteous at WrestleDream. MJF was successful, as he and Cole still remain the current ROH World Tag Team Champions.

Owens, under Kevin Steen and Adam Cole worked together in the Sinclair owned Ring of Honor.

There is no timeline as of this writing as to when Cole will return to action. Wrestleview wishes Cole a speedy and full recovery.
