Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline/Wrestling Observer has provided an update on AEW talent and Executive Vice President Kenny Omega.
The report notes that Omega continues to progress in his recovery from abdominal surgery. However, at the time of the report, there is still no expected date for his AEW in-ring return. Meltzer also said that Omega still has some pain, but is still been able to train with moderate intensity. Omega is still not able to take any kind of bumps yet in the ring.
Omega had a potentially life-threatening bout of diverticulitis that forced Omega out of action last December.
Meltzer said the following in his update regarding Omega:
“Regarding Kenny Omega, he still has some pain but he is training with moderate intensity. I don’t expect him back any time soon for wrestling as he’s still got weakness in the abdominal area from the surgery and can’t start taking bumps yet. There is no estimate on a return. As noted, Kota Ibushi, who has also had his physical issues, is looking at returning when Omega returns.”
It was further said that it is expected Omega will renew his feud with Kazuchika Okada when he is able to return to in-ring action. Okada took Omega’s spot in The Elite when Omega was kicked out of the group. Before having surgery this past May, Omega made a brief return to AEW programming for an angle where he was taken out by The Elite.
