Tigre Uno Makes PPV Debut
This past weekend the former Extreme Tiger made his official TNA debut as Tigre Uno at the “Lockdown” PPV against Manik (TJ Perkins). The two had a fast paced, lucha style match which resulted in Uno getting the pin after a Phoenix Splash which he is calling the Sabretooth Splash. One interesting fact about that match was that Tigre Uno was trained by Rey Misterio Sr. while TJ Perkins had his lucha training when he was Mexico from Negro Casas. Casa and Misterio opened their first wrestling gym together in the 80s. On Thursday night Tigre Uno teamed with X-Division Champoin Sanada to defeat the TNA Tag Team Champions Bro-Mans in a Non-Title Match. Next week they on Impact they will team again against Bro-Mans and The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) in a 3-Way Dance with the TNA Tag Team Titles on the line!
Hijo de Rey Misterio (II) Not Using Misterio Name Anymore
This past weekend the second version of Hijo de Rey Misterio officially announced that he was no longer going to use the name anymore, and is changing to Rey Horus instead. Ever since the original Hijo de Rey Misterio debuted several years ago that name has done very well. The original, who is supposedly Rey Misterio’s legit son, was just not very good and much bigger than Rey Misterio Jr. who he was obviously going to be compared to right off the bat even more so than the original Rey Misterio himself. He ended up retiring from the business and then shortly thereafter a new Hijo de Rey Misterio debuted. This version was actually very good and started to work in America, primarily for Extreme Rising, and then the original Hijo de Rey Misterio returned and began a short lived feud with the new Hijo de Rey Misterio. The new one has claimed in interviews that he is the nephew of Rey Misterio Sr. (much like Rey Jr.) but that has not been confirmed. He originally worked under the “Horus” name when he first started wrestling so the “Rey Horus” name is a bit of a shoutout to both of his names in Lucha thus far. A new “Misterio,” Hijo de Rey Misterio III, worked in place of Rey Horus in Tijuana.
