Tony Khan is in the ring for a “major announcement.” Khan thanks the fans and says this will be the biggest week in the history of AEW. Khan says that 17 years before AEW started, Ring of Honor began. He says he has been a fan of ROH for a long time and he is now the owner of ROH. Khan talks about the first ever ROH event, “Era of Honor” begins, and says that both Christopher Daniels and Bryan Danielson were on that show. They will start tonight off against each other, as well.

“The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson

Daniels has not wrestled in AEW since last May. These two were mainstays in the early days of ROH before Daniels moved on to TNA. They start off with some beautiful mat wrestling with Danielson eventually getting the advantage. Daniels manages to catch Dragon with a spin kick sending him to the floor. Daniels then hits the Split Legged Moonsault onto Danielson on the floor.

In the ring, Daniels goes for a Flying Cross Body but Dragon kicks him in midair. Danielson lights Fallen Angel up with a series of kicks and then puts Daniels in a Bow and Arrow. Daniels managed to grab the bottom rope to break the hold but Dragon goes right back to lighting him up with strikes. Daniels fights back and catches Danielson with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Daniels hits an STO and goes for a splash in the corner only to run into Dragon’s boot.

Danielson transitions into a Fujiwara Armbar but Daniels rolls him over into a neaarfall.

Daniels goes for a La Magistral but Danielson counters it only for Daniels to counter into a crucifix for two. They exchange strikes with Danielson winning that exchange with a huge Roaring Elbow for a close nearfall. Danielson goes to the top but Daniels crotches him and goes for the Fall From Grace again but this time Dragon rakes his eyes. Daniels attempts a Frankensteiner but Dragon shoves him off and dives right into a Uranage Suplex from Daniels. Daniels goes for the BME but Dragon catches him in midair with the Triangle Choke! Daniels reaches for the ropes but Danielson elbows him repeatedly until Daniels passes out.

Winner: Danielson via KO (elbows in the Triangle)

Danielson says that back in the early days of ROH, they started and finished matches with a handshake. He grabs an unconscious Daniels and shakes his hand but then says this isn’t Ring of Honor and he starts stomping the shit out of Daniels face. Danielson says he’ll do the same to Moxley at Revolution.

Jon Moxley walks out and says that he can see that Bryan Danielson is better and more violent than ever. He says that Moxley is at a crossroad in his career with one path being him getting his head kicked in on Sunday and never be heard of again but he chooses the other path, which sees him running right through Danielson. He says he will finally beat Danielson and the Story of Jon Moxley is just beginning. He says the next chapter will be written in blood. Moxley tells Danielson to take his shot right now and they square up but Danielson retreats instead.

Punk says MJF talked about a lot of important things but he can’t shake the feeling that he is begin gaslit by MJF. Punk says he doesn’t think MJF is lying but his question is his sincerity.

Punk says there is a famous picture on the internet of a young CM Punk meeting Stone Cold and after “much lesser men” framed him as someone that took his ball and went home he didn’t get mad and lash out at the world. Punk says he’s seen MJF knock out the legendary Dean Malenko who is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and he watched Pillman bury the late, great Brian Pillman and all of the things that he said about Darby Allin’s uncle. He says that nothing he can say can be more impactful than something he can do and he needs MJF to come out for him to do that. MJF walks out and says that he used to be just like MJF, full of hate and that he has done awful things. He says he once poured alcohol down an alcoholic’s throat and mocked a wrestler’s addition until he lost his job because of it and all that heat won’t just keep him warm, it will burn him up.

Punk says respect isn’t given, it’s earned. Punk says this is bigger than that and says there is an 11-year old watching right now that looks up to MJF just like MJF looked up to Punk. Punk says he asked himself this morning and asked if he was the good guy and he says he finally had an answer. He said the answer is that he is trying and offers a handshake to MJF.
