The following is news coming out of Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite on TBS, that took place live from the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA.
Samoa Joe is your new Ring of Honor World Television Champion
Joe defeated Minoru Suzuki with his finishing muscle buster move to win the championship for the first time. Suzuki’s streak as the Television Champion only lasted only 12 days, after he defeated Rhett Titus for the title a the ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view back on April 1.
Post-Match, Joe was attacked by Jay Lethal’s “big surprise.” Below are excerpts from Josh Boutwell’s AEW Dynamite recap of how Joe won the title, and the attack on Joe after the match ended.
HOW SAMOA JOE WON THE ROH TV TITLE:
Suzuki dropkicks Joe and goes for the Sleeper again and transitions into the Gotch Piledriver, but Joe blocks it and Suzuki hits a series of knees. He puts Joe in the Sleeper again but Joe backs him into the corner. Joe lifts him up to the top and hits an Enziguri and goes for the Muscle Buster, but Suzuki catches him in the Hanging Armbar. Joe breaks it up with elbows and the Muscle Buster for the pin!
POST MATCH ATTACK ON JOE:
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt come to the ring with a “present” for Joe but it’s just Lethal flipping him the bird. The lights go out and when they come back on a gigantic dude is in the ring. It’s former NBA player Satnam Singh – who Dutt has been training – and he attacks Joe. He throws Joe into the ring steps and puts him in a Vice Grip. Lethal hits the Lethal Injection on Joe.
