WWE Raw main event changed after top stars walk out

Monday night’s WWE Raw started off with several new matches being announced, including a six-pack challenge to determine the No. 1 contender for the Raw Women’s Championship. The original match was supposed to be WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Naomi and Sasha Banks vs. Asuka, Becky Lynch, Doudrop, and Nikki A.S.H to decide the new challenger to current Raw Women’s Championship Bianca Belair.

However, the match was abruptly changed early in the show when Adam Pearce had to switch it to a singles match between Becky Lynch and Asuka. The explanation was not clear during the show.

According to PWInsider Sasha Banks apparently had issues with certain creative ideas pitched for Monday night’s show. It is being said Banks requested a meeting with Vince McMahon, which she was granted. However, Vince would not budge on his own creative vision. Which then, Banks ended up walking out of The Norfolk Scope before the show went on the air.

According to Fightful Select, Sasha’s tag team partner Naomi was said to have joined Banks in walking out as well. It was noted by Fightful Select, Naomi was actually booked to win the match and thus become the new No. 1 contender to face Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.

Our own Mike Tedesco, who recaps Raw said that Corey Graves called Banks and Naomi unprofessional, and that Becky Lynch made mention on the show of Banks and Naomi walking out.

WWE issued the following statement on the situation, that is courtesy of Fightful.
