News from AEW Dynamite: Brackets revealed for Trios Title Tournament; Huge return

During Wednesday night’s AEW announced the following matches for the Trios Championship Tournament were announced.

-The Young Bucks and TBA vs. Dragon Lee and Rush and Andrade El Idolo

-Death Triangle vs. Will Ospreay and Aussie Open

-The Dark Order vs. The House of Black

-The Best Friends and Orange Cassidy vs. The Trust Busters

The tournament will conclude at All Out on Sunday, September 4.

In the main event of Wednesday night’s Quake By The Lake episode of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley defended the Interim World Title against Chris Jericho. Moxley retained when he made Jericho tap out with a sleeper hold.

CM Punk made his surprise return after the match.

Below is an excerpt from Josh Boutwell’s AEW Dynamite recap of how it all went down.

Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager attack Moxley after the match but Kingston, Claudio, Ortiz and Wheeler Yuta even the odds. The rest of JAS run out and beat down the rest of BCC and Kingston. Jericho goes to hit Moxley with the World Title belt but CM Punk’s music hits and the got damn building EXPLODES!

Punk attacks JAS and helps BCC clean house. The fans are absolutely losing their minds. BCC leaves the ring and leaves Punk and Moxley to come face-to-face. Punk looks down at the title belt and Moxley flips him off before leaving as Punk smirks at him.

CM Punk has been out of action since Double or Nothing back on May 29, where he defeated Adam Page to win the AEW World Title. He then announced on the special live June 3 episode of Rampage that he needed to have surgery. It was then announced an Interim AEW World Champion would be crowned.

Punk Underwent successful surgery on June 8. Punk was part of an AEW panel at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con. At the time, he stated that his foot was shattered and that he was re-learning to walk. He also said there is no current timeline for when he will return to in-ring action.
