Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav Comments On Rumored Merger Talks With Comcast

Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav held a company-wide town hall Wednesday over Zoom, dispelling the rumors of reports regarding a possible merger with Comcast in 2024.

It should be noted that Zaslav did not mention Comcast by name, However sources on the Zoom meeting assumed he was making reference to the cable giant. There was no mention of pending layoffs, and Zaslav also said the WBD is not for sale.

“We are not for sale, absolutely, not for sale. We have the strongest hand in the industry…We have everything we need to be successful to be the biggest entertainment media company in the world.”

Sources said the meeting, which lasted about 75 minutes and stretched across all of WBD’s workforce, was led by Zaslav. He introduced division heads HBO & HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys, Warner Bros Television Group chair Channing Dungey and Warner Bros Motion Picture Group toppers Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy.

The merger would have caused huge ramifications on professional wrestling given that WBD features AEW and NBCUniversal, owned by Comcast, airs WWE programming on USA and Peacock in the United States.
