More details on the Sammy Guevara and Andrade backstage fight

More details have emerged regarding Wednesday’s backstage fight at AEW Dynamite in Washington, DC.

According to F4WOnline, Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo were both warned by AEW management on Tuesday about not fighting or else they would be sent home.

Following an interview where Andrade said had an issue with Guevara, both men were said to have been talked to on Tuesday and were told no fighting, or else both would be sent home. It was noted that with Andrade, he was told he would not be fired if he got into a fight. Bothreportedly agreed and said there would be no issues.

F4WOnline further notes they have been given five different accounts of what took place, with three being identical and the fourth very close to the other three.

The consistent story is that Guevara did not throw any punches or fight back even after Andrade punched him, – possibly a “sucker punch” according to what F4WOnline has heard.

One account had Andrade spinning Guevara around, with Guevara then pushing Andrade and then Andrade punching Guevara.

A second account is Andrade was waiting in a hallway for Guevara and got two punches in before the fight was broken up. It was said that despite the punches, Guevara did not end up with any visible marks on him for his main event match on Dynamite.

The third account that is from Andrade’s side is what was originally reported by TMZ.

It is being said that if Guevara had thrown the first punch and had indeed started the fight, he would have worked the main event with Chris Jericho against Daniel Garcia & Bryan Danielson.

AEW sent Andrade home. As of this report, there is no word on what the company plans to do with him. He is currently under contract for several more years. There has been much speculation he is trying to get fired so he can go back to WWE. During a previous interview, Andrade spoke about how he and Charlotte have opposite travel schedules.

Tony Khan announced Wednesday the AEW career vs. mask match between 10 of the Dark Order and Andrade initially scheduled for Friday’s live Rampage is off.
