According to Fightful Select, AEW’s plans for the roster split “softened” leading up to the premiere episode of Collision.
Fightful Select also notes that there had been early preparations made, along with details for the roster split sent out to many staff and talent within AEW. Special exemptions were going to be made for most of the current reigning champions. It was also said some of the roster were told that a “soft split” would be coming. However, those plans changed and hey were then told there would now be some “natural sharing” of talent between Dynamite and Collision.
The report further notes several sources at Warner Bros. Discovery indicated they were not fans of a roster split, and preferred that the brands be kept together if the situation allowed for it.
Fightful Select concluded with saying that reactions were said to have been mixed, as there was several talent were not happy about the possibility of missing out on weekend signings and independent bookings. There were also talent that said that a split would allow for much less backstage drama.
