Video: Victim of BJ Whitmer speaks out on incident, wants to help others

Back on June 4, 2023, now former AEW producer and ROH wrestler BJ Whitmer was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in Boone County, Kentucky.

Local authorities have charged Whitmer with strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree.

Whitmer’s alleged victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, was recently interviewed by News 19 in Boone County, in which she provided the details of her alleged encounter with Whitmer.

In the news story, the alleged, the victim who was not shown on camera is referred to as Whitmer’s ex-girlfriend. She gave a recount the incident. She told News 19 Whitmer threatened to kill her while he was strangling her. Whitmer only let her go after she told him that she called the local police.

The victim told News 19 she doesn’t feel safe as Whitmer was released a week and one day after the incident on a $25,000 cash bond.

Once AEW learned of the incident back on June 12, the company terminated him and issued the following statement:

“B.J. Whitmer been terminated following his arrest on domestic violence charges. While talent and staff are ultimately responsible for their own personal actions, this behavior is intolerable within AEW. AEW has reached out to offer support to those impacted by his behavior.”
