Update on Drew McIntyre following his return to WWE at Money in the Bank

After being absent from WWE since WrestleMania 39, Drew McIntyre made his return to WWE at Saturday’s Money in the Bank in London.

After Gunther had just successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship, he came to the ring and confronted the champion, then took him out with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt and a Claymore Kick.

According to PWInsider McIntyre will be back as a regular on Raw beginning on Monday. It was also said that his program with Gunther will continue.

PWInsider also notes that WWE wanted McIntyre to return by Money In the Bank. However, his return was uncertain as McIntyre stressed that he wanted a strong storyline to go along with his return. It was further noted that McIntyre and WWE came to an agreement over the past few days. McIntyre’s current deal is still set to expire in early 2024 and no new deal is said have been as the two sides have yet to even start negotiations which is partially due to the amount of time that is still left on McIntyre’s current contract with the company.

There have been reports over the past several months since that McIntyre’s absence from WWE had to do with health issues and McIntyre’s issues over his creative direction. During the Money in Bank press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque was asked if locking McIntrye in to a new deal is a priority. Levesque said it is a priority, and then went on to say the amount of speculation on McIntyre’s absence has been funny. He did confirm that McIntyre did take time off after WrestleMania for a minor injury and that while he was out WWE and McIntyre decided to get “something else” fixed, but did not further elaborate.
