Backstage news on Nick Aldis signing with WWE

According to a report from Fightful Select, Nick Aldis officially signed a contract with WWE this past week. He had been previously working for WWE on a trial basis as a producer.

It is not known as of this writing, if Aldis will continue to work as a producer. The report also notes Aldis did not produce any matches on Friday night’s WWE SmackDown. It was further said that there is nothing in Aldis’ contract that says he cannot wrestle for WWE.

Fightful Select concluded by noting that Aldis is said to be well liked backstage and ‘eager’ to make the most out of whatever he is given creatively by WWE. Adam Pearce who is an on-screen character and was named as the new General Manager of Raw during Friday’s SmackDown, also works as a producer. So it’s possible that Aldis could work the two roles as well.

Aldis was named by Triple H, as the new SmackDown General Manager on this past Friday night’s ‘season premiere’ episode that aired live on FOX.
