During a live event in Toronto on 12/29, Sami Zayn was put through a table by his opponent Finn Balor as part of a Last Man Standing match.
In the process, part of the table hit Zayn and cut his head open, which led to the former Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion receiving 15 stitches following the match as announced on the Day 1 edition of RAW on 1/1.
Despite the need for medical attention, Zayn was able to greet fans after the show.
The match marked his return to action after taking time off since the 12/4 edition of RAW, which saw Drew McIntyre attacking Zayn in a backstage angle.
