Kansas City Chiefs Lineman Trey Smith comforts young boy using WWE Title Belt after Super Bowl Parade shooting

Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith shared the WWE Championship belt that the team received, to help calm a young boy in the aftermath of the mass shooting during the team’s recent Super Bowl celebration.

Smith, who was wearing the belt during the celebration, noticed the frightened boy, who was with his father.

In a interview Thursday with ABC’s Good Morning America, Smith said the following:

“I was thinking, what can I do to help him out?…I just handed him the belt: ‘Hey buddy, you’re the champion. No one’s going to hurt you, man. We’ve got your back.’”

Smith also said he talked about professional wrestling with the boy to take his mind off the scary scene after they were loaded onto a bus. Eight children were among the 21 people wounded and a mother of two was killed in the shooting.
