According to a report by NBC News on Tuesday, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is considering former WWE star Jesse Ventura on his shortlist of candidates for his running mate. NBC News also indicates the additional name on Kennedy’s shortlist is New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The news was first reported by the The New York Times.
Ventura is the former Governor of Minnesota. When he was elected in 1998, he become the first Reform Party candidate to win statewide office. He served only one term as Governor and did not seek re-election.
The report also notes that Kennedy said during an interview last month that he would most likely name his Vice President pick within the next 30 days. It was further noted by NBC the self-imposed deadline passed in early March with no announcement.
A spokesperson for the Kennedy campaign said that he is considering Aaron Rodgers and Jesse Ventura as running mates along with others on a shortlist. It was also added that no other details are available.
