Despite a conflicting report earlier in the day, Fightful Select has noted that the remarks made by Will Ospreay on the 4/10 edition of AEW Dynamite were his own idea.
The previous report claimed that Tony Khan had the idea for Ospreay to make comments toward Paul “Triple H” Levesque, in response to comments the WWE chief content officer made during WrestleMania 40 weekend.
During an interview, Triple H commented on wrestlers who “don’t want to grind” who end up signing elsewhere, with many believing the comment was directed at the former IWGP United States Champion.
Ospreay made a direct comment toward the unnamed Levesque before assuring the fans that the Aerial Assassin is “not afraid of the grind.”
Fightful adds that the remarks made toward Ospreay came as a surprise to wrestlers in both WWE and AEW, with one WWE talent saying it was clear Ospreay was attempting to be respectful of the process and of WWE despite ultimately signing with AEW for the sake of his family.
