During her appearance on the most recent episode of Busted Open Radio, actress Damaris Lewis, who plays the role of Babs Wingo in the new “Queen of the Ring” film, apologized for her comment at Sunday’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Lewis was at ringside with her co-star Kelli Berglund, who plays Nell Stewart and the film’s director and writer Ash Avildsen. All three were interviewed about the movie. When asked by Tony Schiavone about making the movie and her role in the film, Lewis told Schiavone, “One thing I learned about pro wrestlers, y’all know you’re going to win before anybody else does so thank you for teaching me that.”
Lewis’s comment went viral on social media, receiving much negative push back from fans.
Lewis told the hosts of Busted Open Radio, she was sorry for how her comment came out and takes complete accountability for it. She did add that during her press tours for the film, she has been specific in saying the wrestlers have something special inside when they know that they are going to win.
She clarified her original comment by saying the following:
“It is a sport, it is real. People are in there, in that ring, doing what they gotta do. It’s tough and dangerous at times. I respect it fully with my whole heart. So yes, I will say it again: I am so sorry if it came out that way. But like you said, you have to know the house you’re in. I know that these fans love their sport and that they were defending their sport so I can’t be mad.“
