According to a report by PWInsider Elite, Josh Mathews was recently seen working within AEW’s production trucks during television broadcasts.
The report notes that Mathews’ specific role with in AEW is a as key liaison during shows. It was added that he is said to be facilitating communication between AEW’s core production team in the truck and the coaches, producers and agents who are involved in planning and execution the matches and segments.
Mathews began with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling back in 2014, having taken over for Mike Tenay as the new play-by-play announcer and having remained in that role until 2021. He then took on a backstage role which included Senior Producer and Senior Director of Digital Media. He was released this past February from the promotion, along with Gail Kim TNA Hall of Famer and producer, Ariel Shnerer (Executive Producer and head of creative), Rob Kligman (Chief Revenue Officer) and Michael Shewchenko (Digital team).
His wife, Madison Rayne currently joined AEW in 2022 and currently works as a coach/producer.
