According to Fightful Select, then F4WOnline, there is an update on a previous report regarding Ireland’s desire to bring WWE WrestleMania to the country.
During a recent interview with the Irish Mirror, Maurice Shortall, the Councillor for Kilkenny told the publication that Ireland is in a good position to for place a competitive bid to host WrestleMania due to its strong tourism. He also said he intends to bring his suggestion to the government.
The reports note, those close to the matter have stated this is a “hoped project” and view this as a “long-term project” and could be possible if the Irish government views sees the country as a global sporting hub.
It was added that in order for WrestleMania to come to Ireland, it would be expected that the country would have to at the very least match the $6 million site fee that was done done by the Las Vegas Stadium Authority. However, it was further stated that sources have indicated sources within the Irish wrestling scene see this amount as a potential financial roadblock.
The most likely site for WrestleMania, if it were to come to Ireland would be Croke Park in Dublin, which has an estimated capacity of more than 80,000. However, Fightful’s report points out that the stadium does not have a roof and that the weather during that time in could be an issue with bringing WrestleMania to that specific venue. It was further added those close to the project dismissed concerns with Croke Park residents holding protests, who protested the NFL holding a game at Croke Park in September 2025.
