WWE NXT Women’s Title reportedly to no longer have a gender-specific designation

WWE NXT Women’s Title said to no longer have gender-specific designation

According to a report on Thursday morning from PWInsider, WWE has issued an internal memo that going forward, the WWE NXT Women’s Championship currently held by Rhea Ripley will be referred to and described as simply the “NXT Championship.”

On this past Tuesday’s episode WWE Backstage on FS1, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch discussed with CM Punk that WWE should stop referring to the Women’s Division, and just present everything, male or female, as just wrestling…and it’s time to present things in a more progressive fashion.

As of this report, WWE has not made any public comments regarding the Women’s NXT Championship, and it should be noted that the NXT Women’s Championship still has the word “Women’s” associated with it on WWE’s website.

You can check out the segment below with Becky Lynch from Tuesday’s episode of WWE Backstage.

On Thursday, Becky Lynch took to Twitter Thursday to clarify her statements, which can be seen below the video segment.
