UPWA RETURNS TO THE NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN WILMINGTON
Benefit Show for Jimmy Kadnar

The fastest growing wrestling promotion in the southeast returns to the National Guard Armory in Wilmington, NC with an action packed show when UPWA presents Summer Showdown 2011 on July 30th.

The show will be run as a benefit for Jimmy Kadnar, a retired New York firefighter who responded to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, who lost his home to a fire on July 5th. Kadnar had just left for work Tuesday, July 5 when the fire started. His wife and their five children got out of the house safely. The fire has been ruled an accident.

UPWA Owner Donald Brower, also from the New York area, has pledged to help a hero.

“We will be donating a portion of every ticket sold for the event to help the family adjust,” Brower said. “My grandfather was also a firefighter so it will be my pleasure to try and help this man get back on his feet.”

As for the show, the card is highlighted by World Champion LA Tank facing the man who has tormented him for the last 18 months, the monster Djinn in an I Quit match.

In other action, Tag Team Champions The Beasley’s will face Smooth Excellence in a Two out of Three Falls match. Cruiserweight Champion Christopher McKenzie will put the title on the line against Amazing Velvet in a title vs career match and Carolinas Champion Tavare Hill will defend at the show.

Tickets are only $15 at the door or $10 in advance. They are available on www.theupwa.com or at the door.
