Akira Tozawa has signed the open contract John Morrison sent to Japan. It will be John Morrison vs. Akira Tozawa when Dragon Gate USA debuts in Santa Maria, CA on January 25th. We can confirm now that Akira Tozawa will also be on both DGUSA events in Huntington Park, CA on January 26th and January 27th. Look for Shane Strickland to make his way to EVOLVE soon. Officials consider him at the top of the class of 2013 prospects, especially after his recent performance in the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup tournament.

MIA YIM ADDED TO SHIMMER 53!

SHIMMER – WOMEN ATHLETES is pleased to announce the addition of MIA YIM to the SHIMMER 53 event as part of WrestleCon on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 (the day before WrestleMania 29) in Secaucus, NJ.
Mia Yim is one of the top young rising stars in professional wrestling, competing as frequently these days in Japan as she does in the United States. Mia has spent the past several months wrestling for the REINA promotion in Japan, a commitment which caused her to be absent from the SHIMMER 49-52 tapings during October in Berwyn. SHIMMER 53 at WrestleCon will see Mia’s return to SHIMMER action.
SHIMMER 53 will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center (355 Plaza Drive) in Secaucus, NJ. Bell time for this afternoon event is 12pm (Noon).
Tickets are now on sale at http://www.wwnlive.com/wrestlecon for the SHIMMER 53 event. First and second row seating is already sold out. Third row ringside seating is still available, priced at $40. General admission seating is also available, priced at $25. The event is suitable for all ages.
SHIMMER 53 will be one of several live pro wrestling events that weekend at the Meadowlands Exposition Center as part of WrestleCon. After the SHIMMER event on April 6th, there will also be full events promoted by both CHIKARA and Dragon Gate USA at the same location. SHIMMER Women Athletes returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club (6309 26th Street) in Berwyn, IL on Saturday & Sunday, April 13th & 14th, 2013. Volumes 54-57 of the SHIMMER series will be filmed during the course of that weekend.
Tickets for the April 13th & 14th events will go on sale at The SHIMMER Forum at http://www.shimmerathletes.com/ on Sunday, January 6th beginning at 6pm Central time. SHIMMER Tag Team Champion Portia Perez will embark on her second tour of Japan during the month of January, as she will participate in several events run by the STARDOM promotion.
Portia was announced last week at a STARDOM press conference promoting their upcoming event at Korakuen Hall on January 14th. On that event, Portia will be the tag team partner of Tomoka Nakagawa & Kellie Skater in trios action against the PLANET team of Mayu Iwatani & Io Shirai & Natsumi Showzuki.
Perez previously toured Japan for the REINA promotion, along with usual tag team partner Nicole Matthews during 2011.

Main Event #1 highlights the international flavor which SHIMMER has come to be known for, pitting Ayako Hamada vs. Kana in a blockbuster singles battle between two of Japan’s finest. Main Event #2 is a five-on-five elimination tag team match featuring all of the SHIMMER originals still on the roster, plus all of the current title holders, and a few more to round out the teams.
