Palace of Auburn Hills was imploded on Saturday

The structure of Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan was imploded earlier this morning.

The venue opened on August 13, 1988 and was the home of NBA’s Detroit Pistons until the team’s move to the Little Ceasars Arena in 2017.

WWE ran 21 live events at the venue between 1988 and 1991, including SummerSlam 1993. 

WCW held four Monday Nitro TV tapings at the venue that included the August 4, 1997 episode of Nitro with Lex Luger defeating Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. In addition to Nitro, WCW also held the World War 3 PPV at the venue in 1998.

The last wrestling event at the Palace of Auburn Hills was held by TNA Wrestling on June 21, 2009 with their Slammiversary pay-per-view.

The venue went through two renovations, one in 2005, and the other in 2015 before its closed for good on October 12, 2017.
