NJPW issues a statement on the injury of Mercedes Mone’

New Japan Pro Wrestling issued the following statement on the injury of Mercedes Mone’.

During her match with Willow Nightingale in the main event of Resurgence May 21, Mercedes Moné sustained an injury to her right ankle.

Moné underwent a thorough appraisal of her injury immediately after her match and began treatment.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling joins fans in wishing Moné a full and fast recovery.

Mone’ was injured at the NJPW Resurgence pay-per-view last Sunday, during her match against Willow Nightingale in the finals to crown the new STRONG Women’s Championship Tournament.

After the match, Mone’ had to be carried to the back.

There was a spot in the match where Mone’ fell from the top turnbuckle on to the floor and was unable to put weight on her foot after. An audible was then called to put the title on Nightingale.

As of this writing, there is no timeline of when Mone’ will return to in-ring action.
