Former WWE Superstar wins NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship

Former WWE and IMPACT Wrestling star EC3 is the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

EC3 defeated Tyrus in a bullrope match at night two of NWA 75 on Sunday on PPV, live from the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO.

The stipulation was that if Tyrus lost, he would be forced to retire.

Tyrus held the championship for 289 days, after he defeated Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona in a three-way match at last November’s Hard Times 3.

According to Fightful, during his post-match speech, Tyrus thanked all in the NWA for the opportunity. He also went on to thank Dr. Tom Prichard and Pat Patterson. After Tyrus finished his speech, EC3 returned to the ring and gave Tyrus his own version of the NWA World Title, which was made specifically for him, saying the NWA wanted him to keep it.

In addition, Fightful noted Tyrus also received farewells from other wrestlers in the locker room as the show came to an end.

The 50-year old Tyrus performed in WWE as Brodus Clay from 2010 to 2014. He also spent four years in TNA Wrestling under the name of Tyrus. He is currently a part of Gutfeld on Fox News.

EC3 was released from the WWE back on April 15, 2020 as part of budget cuts that were due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
