New Japan star reportedly ‘exploring’ free agency in 2024

Sports Illustrated has reported that Kazuchika Okada could possibly be a free agent in the early part of 2024.

The report notes that Okada’s contract is set to expire at the end of January, with the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion “‘”seriously entertaining” the idea of taking his talents elsewhere.

There has been some speculation that the “Rainmaker” could sign with AEW, which has a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling, or with WWE, where former NJPW mainstay Shinsuke Nakamura has entered into a renewed push as of late.

It is unclear as of time of writing whether Okada will sign with either company or simply re-sign with New Japan, but the report does claim that “all signs point to Okada exploring free agency” sooner rather than later.
