Former Chicago Bear and WCW star Steve “Mongo” McMichael hospitalized

Several media outlets are reporting that legendary Chicago Bears defensive tackle and former WCW star Steve McMichael, who has ALS, was taken to the emergency room on Thursday, per a statement from his family.

Reports note McMichael’s family initially took him to the hospital with what they thought was pneumonia. However, it was later said by the family he is actually being treated for a urinary tract infection. The family also said McMichael was being admitted to the intensive care unit. Last August McMichael was hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis.

The family, in their statement asked for continued prayers for Steve, which said are appreciated for his speedy recovery.

McMichael was formally announced as a member of the the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024. The Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony is set for Saturday, August 3 in Canton, Ohio.
