New champion crowned at MLW Fightland, top AEW star appears

A new MLW World Heavyweight Champion was crowned at Saturday night’s MLW Fightland event, which took place in NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Mads Krule Krugger defeated Donovan Dijak and Matt Riddle in a triple threat match to win the championship. The match was originally scheduled to just be Riddle defending against Dijak. However, Krugger cashed in the Gravity Gamble contract, which he won in a ladder match back at the Kings of the Colosseum event that took place on January 11 in the same venue.

It looked as if Riddle retained after he hit Dijak with the Brostone piledriver. However, from behind, Krugger grabbed Riddle, picked him up and dropped him with a full nelson slam to get the win for the title.

Post-match, Krugger was attacked by Dijak, as the two began brawling all over the venue. Just as the show was going off the air, former MLW World Champion Hammerstone came out and hit Krugger with a chair.

Also, during the show, former AEW World Champion appeared 27 minutes into the show, in a backstage segment with Hammerstone.

MJF said the following to Hammerstone:

“Hammer, I got to tell you, I love you, brother. Six years ago, Dynasty, we’re on the top of professional wrestling mountain. Six years later, I’m still on top. And I’m saying this with love: You were the Beast of the Summer, you were the King of the Colosseum, and now I’ve had to watch you become a court jester.”
