NXT UK Episode 1 results, Jan. 9, 2019: Zack Gibson & James Drake triumph in the Semifinals to earn their place at NXT TakeOver

With a huge Semifinal victory over Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster, Zack Gibson & James Drake captured the right to battle Moustache Mountain to crown the first-ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool. Plus, tensions continued to build between Travis Banks and Jordan Devlin, Isla Dawn defeated Xia Brookside only to suffer a sneak attack by Jinny, Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan scored a huge tag team victory and Gallus once again staked their claim to the future.

Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan def. Jamie Ahmed & Dan Moloney

Amidst the growing fever of first-ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Blackpool, Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan showcased their tandem skills against the formidable combination of Jamie Ahmed & Dan Moloney in NXT UK’s opening contest.

In the height of the action, The Lucky-in took out Moloney outside the ring, opening the door for The Bhangra Bad Boy to hit the Swanton Bomb for the three-count.

For Williams and Jordan, the only thing bigger than the victory itself was their enthusiastic reaction following their first NXT UK win.

Gallus emerged ready to destroy British Strong Style and the reign of Pete Dunne

Ignoring the enormous distain being voiced by the WWE Universe, an extremely confident Joe Coffey, flanked by his Gallus brothers, pledged all-out domination over British Strong Style in their imminent Six-Man Tag Team Match. In addition, he made it clear that he would overcome WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool and finally bring The Bruiseweight’s nearly 600-day title reign to a close.

Tensions rose in Women’s Title Match Press Conference en route to TakeOver

In a press conference held earlier in the day, tensions rose to a fever pitch between NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm en route to their collision this Saturday at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool. This included a frightening moment when one reporter actually suggested that The Mosh Pit Kid may be nothing more than a Toni Storm “impersonator.”

Isla Dawn def. Xia Brookside

Isla Dawn’s hard-fought battle against Xia Brookside began and ended with handshakes. But in between the show of good sportsmanship, it was The White Witch who ultimately triumphed over her opponent by winning a battle of counter attempts for the quick pin.

After casting a spell of defeat on the daughter of legendary competitor Robbie Brookside, though, the victorious Dawn was suddenly attacked from behind by the Fashionista of NXT UK Jinny backstage.

Zack Gibson & James Drake def. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster to earn their place at NXT UK TakeOver

In an extremely high-stakes main event, Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster battled Zack Gibson & James Drake to determine who will face Moustache Mountain to crown the first-ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool.

In the closing moments of the fierce showdown that took both teams to the limit, Gibson completely dismantled Andrews by executing Helter Skelter onto the unforgiving ramp. This opened the door for the 2-on-1 assault that culminated in Ticket to Ride and earned Gibson and Drake the right to battle for the NXT UK Tag Team Titles at Blackpool this Saturday!

NXT UK Episode 2 results, Jan. 9, 2019: Gallus conquers British Strong Style en route to TakeOver: Blackpool

In an epic Six-Man Tag Team main event, Gallus’ Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang overcame WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and Moustache Mountain. Plus, tensions finally boiled over between Travis Banks and Jordan Devlin and Ligero bested Joseph Conners.

Ligero def. Joseph Conner

After weeks pontificating from dark corners about being “fed a lie” as one of NXT UK’s “shiny new toys,” a focused Joseph Conners brought all his resentment to bear against the high-flying Ligero.

Despite his aggression, however, it was not enough to overcome the Leeds Luchador, who used the ropes to springboard himself inside an explosive DDT to pick up the win.

Travis Banks def. Tyson T-Bone

In the final moments of his match against Tyson T-Bone, Travis Banks was suddenly interrupted by Jorden Devlin, who emerged dressed like The Kiwi Buzzsaw in the hopes of distracting his adversary mid-match. These mind games failed to influence the outcome, however, as Banks managed to knock a meddling Saxon Huxley off the apron before finishing off The King of the Traveler with a Slice of Heaven.

As the bell was still ringing, Devlin charged the squared-circle to deliver a post-match assault, igniting a brawl between the two Superstars that nearly ended with a second Slice of Heaven by Banks before The Irish Ace headed for the hills.

Gallus def. British Strong Style

Following months of conflict, the best factions in NXT UK finally clashed in an epic Six-Man Tag Team main event, just days before the first-ever NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool.

Fueled by unyielding animosity on both sides of the ring, all six of the competitors fought tooth-and-nail throughout the contest. Just a few of the explosive moments included British Strong Style clearing the ring in an all-out brawl, an overwhelming assault by all three members of Gallus on the resilient Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, The Artful Dodger getting hurled into the steel ring steps by Joe Coffey before roaring back with a monster Superplex on The Iron King, Pete Dunne locking Wolfgang and Mark Coffey into back-to-back-to-back submission maneuvers, one of the longest airplane spins in recent memory by the first-ever WWE United Kingdom Champion, a wicked powerbomb by Joe that nearly put away the BruiserWeight and a corkscrew senton by Bate off the ring post and out on the ringside floor that took out every competitor in sight.

In the culmination of the hard-fought showdown, it was ultimately Joe Coffey who would reign supreme, hitting All the Best for the Bells on Tyler Bate to give Gallus a huge victory in their kingdom and The Iron King incredible momentum heading into his WWE United Kingdom Championship showdown against Dunne this Saturday at NXT UK: Blackpool.
