Trios Match
CM Punk & FTR vs. The Gunn Club (Austin & Colten Gunn) & Max Caster w/Anthony Bowens & Billy Gunn

Punk, fresh off his World Championship win on Sunday, dove into the crowd as he made his entrance. Caster makes the Amber Heard comment you would expect him to do in his freestyle and Bret Hart also catches a stray. Dax Harwood and Austin Gunn start the match off and FTR works Gunn over with some double team action. Colten tags in and Cash hits a big body drop and dropkick as he comes in. Cash continues the onslaught with an armdrag into an Armbar. Gunn manages to get away and tags in Caster but Cash takes him down and tags in Punk for the first time to a huge pop.

Punk hits a Diving Axe Handle off the top and goes to work on Caster’s arm. Caster manages to slam Punk into the turnbuckles by his tights and puts the boots to him before raking his eyes. Caster whips Punk into the corner and charges into a boot from Punk. Punk leaps to the top and hits a Flying Cross Body followed by a tag to Cash. Cash hits a Powerslam off the top for two. The heels manage to triple team Dax in their corner. Dax fights out of the corner and almost makes the hot tag but Gunn and Caster snatch his teammates off the apron. Gunn Club hits a Pancake on Dax for two.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-‘

Caster tries to put Dax in a Sharpshooter but Dax escapes and makes the hot tag to Punk and Colten tags in, as well. Punk slips off the top but manages to get back up and hits a series of clotheslines on the Gunn Club. Punk hits a Running Knee to Austin and then backdrops Cash over the top onto Colten and Caster. Punk hits a Fling Elbow Drop on Austin and calls for the GTS but Billy Gunn gets up on the apron. Punk dares him to hit him but the distraction allows Austin to roll him up for two. He goes for the Fameasser but Punk blocks it and Powerbombs him into Billy before hitting the GTS. FTR this Austin with the Big Rig for the pin.

Winners: FTR & Punk via pinfall (GTS/Big Rig)
(JOSH’S 2 CENT: Holy hell that match sucked. It was pretty standard until the final three minutes or so and it just completely fell apart. There was a ton of timing issues after Punk slipped off the top. They clearly want Punk and FTR to be a group going forward but that was not a great start to it. *)

Punk grabs the mic and says he’s never done drugs but imagines this is what it feels like. He says he knows he has a long way and a ton of tough roads ahead. He says he wouldn’t be here if his road wasn’t filled with mistakes that helped him learn and he will continue to learn. Punk says you can call him something positive or negative, it doesn’t matter because you have to call him champ. Dax says he’s done all of those things Punk hasn’t done and he can confirm they feel good. He says pro wrestling means the world to him and points out his wife and kid in the crowd and says those are the only two things in the world that mean more to him than wrestling. Dax says it doesn’t matter if you’re from AEW or another company, if you get in their faces you get your ass kicked.

Punk name drops New Japan and says that some of the best wrestlers in the world are there but he’s also standing in the ring with two of the best. He says he wants to know who he’s facing at Forbidden Door and Hiroshi Tanahashi walks out! Tanahashi poses to the crowd and Punk raises the belt up as Tanahashi motions that he wants it.
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Tanahashi vs. Punk is a dream match I never thought we would ever see and it’s going to be surreal.)

MJF comes out and immediately calls for his music to be cut off as he just glares out at the crowd. MJF says he’s in a lot of pain after what happened to him on Sunday but all people want to do is hear him talk. He says he’ll talk but this is Max Friedman talking, not MJF. MJF says there are a lot of big executives from Warner Media here and he would hate to embarrass Tony Khan. MJF says that Khan has wanted to sit down and hash things out for awhile but it’s too little, too late. The fans start chanting “shut the f*ck up” at him.

MJF says AEW started as a friend’s company and everyone was just given a free ride except for him but he busted his ass and made memory after memory but he still gets no respect. MJF says everything he touches turns to gold and no one else is on his level. He says he doesn’t come out expected to hit home runs every week, he says he’s expected to hit grand slams and he doesn’t every single week. MJF says he’s constantly held under a microscope because he is the only person in AEW able to carry the company on his back.

MJF mocks the fans that are clapping for him and asks where they were this weekend when everyone was calling him an “unprofessional piece of shit.” MJF says everyone in the back wants his spot, and that’s fine because he doesn’t want to be here anymore. He calls the fans “uneducated marks” and says all they do is rant their opinions on Twitter like it matters but the fans don’t know shit. He says the fans’ opinions suck and they change on the drop of a dime. MJF says the fans hated him because he doesn’t pretend to watch NJPW or dump his opponents on their head or that he doesn’t chase stars. He says he is the best in the world and he is the only person in the business that can make fans feel something and he doesn’t have to do a bunch of bullshit to get them there.

MJF says he is a generational talent and everyone takes him for granted. He says that he is the biggest minute-by-minute draw in the entire company but despite that he can’t reach in his pockets and pay the guy that’s been busting his ass since day one. He says he wants to keep that money so he can keep giving it to all the ex-WWE guys he brings in that can’t even lace his boots. He asks Khan if he would treat him better if he was an ex-WWE guy and says the problem is that he got a position of power in wrestling when the only position he should have is behind a guardrail.

He says he doesn’t want to wait until 2024, he wants Tony Khan to fire him now. He starts cursing at Khan and I’m not sure what he was saying as it was all bleeped out, his mic was cut and then it went black before going to commercial.
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: My God, that was unbelievable. This thing may have started out as a shoot but they have turned into a work and MJF is just magnificent with that microphone in his hand. Give that man all the money he wants, if you haven’t.)

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

Johnny Impact comes out for his open challenge and Miro appears on the screen. He says that the Redeemer is back to take out the punks, the bastards, the cowboys and when he redeems them all it will bring him closer to his God who has forsaken him. He says he no longer wants to be next to God, he wants to take his throne.

A video package highlights the Anarchy in the Arena Match from Sunday.

The Jericho Appreciation Society, sans Daniel Garcia, make their way to the ring. They say they dominated Anarchy in the Arena, so the “AEW Galaxy” must appreciate them. Jericho calls Eddie Kingston a psycho and says he tried to burn him alive and says Danielson is also a psycho. Jericho says that they choked Danielson out and he’s not here tonight because of them. He says that Garcia is going to choke “that fat head” Jon Moxley out tonight, too. He says sports entertainers always beat pro wrestlers.

Eddie Kingston and William Regal walk out and Kingston starts freaking out saying he wants to fight them and he’ll fight them all. He hands the microphone to Regal and tells him to explain it. Regal simply says, “BLOOD & GUTS!” Jericho refuses, so Kingston runs down and the rest of JAS attack him. Ortiz comes from the crowd and hits Jericho with a slapjack before cutting a hunk of his hair out!

Jericho accepts Blood and Guts but only if Ortiz gives him a Hair vs. Hair Match first and Ortiz accepts.
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: BLOOD & GUTS!!!!!)

Winners: Undisputed Elite & Hikuleo via pinfall (Meltzer Driver)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Awesome, chaotic 10-Man tag here. Most of the guys in this match had physical matches on Sunday, so for them to go all out and put on a match like that just a few days later is wild. ***1/2)
