IMPACT star reportedly returning to WWE

According to PWInsider and F4WOnline, former two-time Impact World Champion and three-time Impact Tag Team Champion Eric Young is returning to WWE.

There were no details as of this writing as to what Young’s role and start date will be, or whether he is heading to the main roster, or back to NXT.

The 42-year old Young was written off IMPACT TV on Thursday night’s IMPACT on AXS where he appeared to be killed by fellow Violent by Design member Deaner in a vignette that was taped inside a prison. It showed the two men fighting over a shiv (razor or knife) when Young urged Deaner to “eliminate the sickness” and that he was the designer of the Violent By Design faction and Deaner was the design.

According to PWInsider, the vignette was filmed in secret and Deaner is now expected to lead the new version of VBD along with Big Kon (former WWE Superstar Konnor in WWE) and Angels (former AEW star Alan Angels).

Young spent time in WWE from 2016 through 2020 with most of his time as the leader of the Sanity faction in the brand NXT, which eventually made it to the main roster and was later disbanded. Young was released on April 15, 2020 as part of budget cuts related to COVID-19.

He returned to IMPACT later that year, making a surprise appearance at the Slammiversary PPV on July 18. He had spent 12 years in IMPACT before he departed for WWE.
