Names, details announced for AEW Continental Classic; Updated AEW Dynamite Preview for 11/22

Earlier today, Tony Schiavone was joined by AEW President Tony Khan to reveal the participants in the inaugural AEW Continental Classic.

As revealed previously, the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship and ROH World Championship will be on the line during the course of this round-robin tournament, with the winner receiving the AEW Continental Championship and becoming the Triple Crown Champion.

The tournament will consist of two groups/’leagues’ of six participants each:

Blue League

  • Bryan Danielson
  • Andrade El Idolo
  • Eddie Kingston
  • Brody King
  • Claudio Castagnoli
  • Daniel Garcia

Gold League

  • Jon Moxley
  • Swerve Strickland
  • Rush
  • Mark Briscoe
  • Jay Lethal
  • Jay White

Each match will have a 20-minute time limit, with no interference allowed.

Winners of each match will earn 3 points, with draws earning 1 point for each competitor and losses giving 0 points.

The tournament begins on the 11/22 edition of Dynamite, with matches taking place each week on Dynamite and Collision.

The finals of both leagues will take place on the 12/27 edition of Dynamite, and the winner of each league final will face off at AEW Worlds End.

In addition, the first of the Continental Classic matches have been announced for the 11/22 edition of Dynamite, as RUSH takes on Jay White, Swerve Strickland faces Jay Lethal, and Jon Moxley goes up against Mark Briscoe.

The first round of matches will continue on the 11/25 edition of Collision as Daniel Garcia takes on Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston faces Brody King.
