Former WWE Superstar reportedly has been in talks with AEW

According to Fightful Select, former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin, who is a free agent has reportedly been in recent talks with AEW about him possibly joining the company.

The report notes that it is unclear if the 48-year old Benjamin would sign a full-time deal, or if anything at this point has even been finalized between the two sides. It was also said that AEW and Benjamin had discussions last month about him making potential appearances for the company.

Fightful Select further indicated that there were people within AEW back in 2023 who had pushed for Benjamin to be signed when there were rumors of his WWE contract coming up. However, his deal was not expiring at the time with WWE. Benjamin was released from his WWE contract back on September 21, 2023, thus ending his second tenure with WWE.

He first signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2000 and started in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Benjamin was called up to the main roster in 2002. His first release from WWE was on April 10, 2015. He returned to WWE in August of 2017.

Benjamin has also wrestled for ROH, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH.
