Samantha Irvin talks life after WWE ring announcing

In an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Samantha Irvin talked about her decision to leave WWE, in order to pursue her career in music.

Irvin, who was exploring that realm when offered the position in 2021, said she felt “creatively free” following her WWE departure, noting the difficulties of touring and what the ring announcer role meant for her:

It just became more and more sad as time went on, because it’s like, ‘Wow, am I just not a singer anymore? Like, what am I doing?’ I know that I am a performer and being a ring announcer on WWE, it was the performance of a lifetime. But then when people stopped calling me for singing gigs, and now they’re asking me to announce everything, I said, ‘Oh no, I took it too far.’

Departing WWE in October, Irvin stated that there were no hard feelings with the company, even recalling a conversation with Paul “Triple H” Levesque helping spur her on to “show what I can really do” with her return to music.

Her first new single, “Make Me,” is set to release on February 14.
