It’s time once again for your weekly ROH on HDNet recap! So, sit back, relax, open a cold one, and get ready for RING OF HONOR WRESTLING!
Here’s how things went down this week:
-We start the show off with the goofy promo from the Bravado Brothers. This was the video where they talked about their grandmother and how they are gonna make it.
-Before our first contest, we hear backstage comments from the Bravado Brothers telling us to “climb aboard the Bravado Bandwagon.” We also hear from their opponents, Grizzly Redwood & Bobby Dempsey. During their promo, Steve Corino interrupts them and tells them that something is not right about the Bravados and to be careful out there.

-A video recap of how we got to tonight’s finals in the Top Prospect Tournament is shown. Last week, Kyle O’Reilly and “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett advanced to meet this week for the title of 2011 Top Prospect.

-Back from break, we see Prince Nana walking to the ring with Princess Mia, Mr. Ernesto Osiris, and his lawyer, Mr. Evans. Prince Nana grabs the mic, tells everyone that he hasn’t been around for a while and didn’t miss anyone of the fans. Nana introduces everyone to the “hottest chick in professional wrestling,” Princess Mia! (I have to agree, damn! She is smoking!) Nana also says that the reason he’s back is because of Princess Mia and his lawyer, Mr. Evans! Nana continues to say that the reason he left for a while is because he and Mr. Evans have been working on a “project” that everyone will know about. Prince Nana introduces us to the new “project” of the Embassy…Tommaso Ciampa.

2011 TOP PROSPECT TOURNAMENT FINALS
“THE PRODIGY” MIKE BENNETT vs. KYLE O’REILLY
WINNER and 2011 TOP PROSPECT: “THE PRODIGY” MIKE BENNETT
-After the match, Kyle Durden gets in the ring and interviews the new Top Prospect winner, Mike Bennett. Bennett tells everyone that there was no doubt that he could win the tournament. He said everyone knew it, except for one man who doubted him…Steve Corino. Bennett calls out Corino and tells him to leave the wrestling to him or he’ll beat his ass! Bennett continues to harass Corino and tells him to bring his old ass into the ring so he can tell him face to face. Corino climbs into the ring and Bennett continues to run his mouth. He tells Corino to keep his nose out of his business and tells him that ROH is nothing without The Prodigy. Corino tells Bennett that he doesn’t want to fight him and that 17 years ago he was just like him. Corino continues and tells Bennett that his over confidence will get him into trouble and get him no where. Bennett continues to provoke Corino and tells him to get out of the ring. Corino had enough and starts swinging on Brutal Bob Evans and Bennett. Things switch around and Bennett gets the upper hand. Bennett continues to beat on Corino and then poses for the crowd after everything is said and done. We see Corino laying in the ring and Bennett walks out as ROH goes off the air.
FINAL THOUGHTS
-Great and entertaining show this week from Ring of Honor! We started out the night kind of slow with the goofy Bravado Brothers defeating Redwood and Dempsey. I still don’t understand why these guys want their characters to be nerds who live off the opinion of their grandmother. The Bravado’s wrestling style is somewhat good, but you just can’t over look how nerdy these guys are. Not an impressive win from these two, but a win is a win.
-Next we had the great exhibition match between Kozina and Richards. Now, this was a great match because it wasn’t your typical wrestling match, it was contested under Pankration rules meaning it was a MMA style match. I’m not sure why this was booked on the show, but I believe it gave us more insight into Davey Richards unique wrestling/fighting style. Kozina gave all he had, but in the end the lone American Wolf gave us a show and managed to get the win! Again, a great unique match and fun to watch!
-What can I say about Prince Nana?! Tonight we saw the return of the Prince and the debut of his new Embassy. I’m not sure what happened to the old Embassy which included Eric Stevens and the crown jewel, the Necro Butcher! This new Embassy seems revamped and stronger than ever! Nana introduced us to a hot ass chick, Princess Mia, who proved tonight that she’s one to watch out for as well. I’m not sure if Mia is a wrestler or just eye candy, but whatever she is I’m glad to see her hot ass week after week! Then we meet Tommaso Ciampa, a new “project” of the Embassy. This guy came in the ring and tore Mike Sydell up! We’ll see what the future holds for Ciampa and the new Embassy in the weeks to come!
-Finally, we had the finals of the 2011 Top Prospect Tournament. Kyle O’Reilly and “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett put on a great match to end the show. I picked O’Reilly to win the tournament, but your 2011 Top Prospect is “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett. I’m not happy with the result, but Bennett proved to all of us that he is someone to watch this year. What happened afterwards with Corino was pretty stupid, but we finally saw the beginning or the end of the feud between these two. Looking forward to seeing what things are in store for “The Prodigy.”
Next Week on ROH on HDNet:
-Briscoe Bros. & Davey Richards vs. ROH World Champion – Roderick Strong & ROH Tag Team Champions – The Kings of Wrestling
